Here’s another project I worked on while at my last internship at my universitys’ makerspace. It’s an enclosure for a Craftex wood lathe, made of 1/2” PVC sheet and 20Ga sheet steel.
The metal parts were cut to size using a fiber laser, then folded with a large pneumatic press brake. I had the PVC side panels cut to size with a waterjet cutter. The front shielding panel is made of 3/8” thick polycarbonate sheet, waterjet cut and mounted with three friction hinges.
For dust collection, I designed a custom adaptor and printed it on a Stratasys Fortus 450MC FDM 3D printer.
