HackEd 2023 - CNC Ouija board

I was convinced by a friend to participate in a local hackathon: HackEd 2023. We decided to do a ‘hardware’ based project, and used some old 3D-printer parts to make a Ouija board that could be controlled over USB. We managed to take 3rd place overall in the competition!

Most of the parts were laser cut, either from wood or sheet steel:

The board’s pointer is coupled through a sheet of 1/4” plywood to the motion system using some old hard-drive magnets. The moving carriage is belt driven by 2 stepper motors.
